Charmilles Carbon Bush and Current Supply

Charmilles (GF Machining Solutions) EDM machines use carbon/graphite brushes (bushes) to transfer electrical current to rotating parts. Correct brush type, installation, and a stable current supply are vital for spark stability and machine performance.

Function and Types
Purpose: sliding electrical contact for spindles, rotary indexers, collectors, motors.
Materials: carbon/graphite, metal-graphite (e.g., copper-graphite) for higher conductivity.
Use OEM parts when possible for proper fit, spring pressure, and material grade.

Why Current Supply Matters
Stable, low-noise DC prevents voltage drops, arcing, and erratic discharges.
Poor contact or noisy supply causes surface defects, dimensional errors, overheating, and increased wear.

Visible arcing, sparking, smoke, or overheating at brushes.
